My work begins in the past — in Greek myth and its enduring figures, in the quiet order of a Japanese garden, in the flowing line of Art Nouveau and the devotion of the Pre-Raphaelites and the Arts and Crafts movement. These worlds continue to hold me: each one a way of looking at beauty, longing, and the human story, and each leaving its trace in the figures I make. I return to them not as sources to be copied, but as company to be kept.

That fascination finds its form in two materials of very different temperament. Parian — ivory-pale, satin to the touch, rooted in the great English porcelain of Minton and Copeland — lends itself to stillness and grace, to the delicacy of a fold or a turned head. Cold bronze answers it with weight and warmth, its surface deepened by patina into something that seems already ancient. Set against one another, porcelain and metal give each figure two voices: one luminous and composed, the other earthbound and enduring.

My work has been shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, with two pieces selected in 2024, and I am a member of the Surrey Sculpture Society.
